Let's see...ten things...

1. I am definitely converted into an accounting nerd; I LOVE the jokes and even make up my own.
2. When I get a bad headache, a quick trip to Canada should help.
3. If you're ever using an operating system that has the option of GL accounts- don't leave them blank!!! This would have made my accounting project research MUCH easier!
4. Always figure in the fixed costs as well as the variable costs when producing something (this will come in handy with my CDs).
5. Learning the differenc between flexible and static budgets was nice.
6. The experience of the project was great; now I have a much better understanding of how to close out a company's books at the end of the year; I had to do a lot of the work myself.
7. Between this class and the finance class I've been in, my understanding of stocks, bonds, and dividends, has increased a lot.
8. I've learned that taking four hours of classes after working nearly a full day is not very helpful in keeping you motivated to do well in class.
9. It can be very helpful to have a homework and/ or study buddy. I didn't do that this semester, but I think it would have helped.
10. Canadian teachers rock!!!

Hmmmm.... 10 things, Well here goes nothing..

1. Learning to look at a company as a whole and how it uses financial information and reports to make decisions and predict future needs has been very interesting.
2. Variances - I always thought that if you did a budget and followed strictly, it was successful and useful, if not, it was a waste of time. I never thought about the use of variances and how you use them to cut costs, find new revenue and make decisions.
3. The jokes and weird humor were great! We are nerds!!!!!
4. I learned how useful budgets are and why.
5. Cash Flow statements were a great learning tool. It really made a difference when I look at them for our store, I actually understand them and their purpose now.
6. Teasing you about spilling the beans about the new baby. That was fun!
7. Spend more time going over problems on the board, instead of just giving answers. It's hard to learn from just answers without class discussion.
8. The project was a great learning tool - I hope!
9. It is eye opening to see how complex running a business is and how much information you need to consider to make it profitable.
10. The thing that impressed me the most about this class is your passion for accounting and that it isn't just a pass or fail class. Your objective is for a true understanding of the process and conversion of normal people to "ACCOUNTING NERDS".
Thanks for teaching!

3)Learned a lot from the Project-how to use Excel better-put a graph on excel-and how long it takes to cram something in, in two weeks instead of the 2 to 1 and 1/2 months originally given.
4)It depends (I'm going to write this all over my test on Tues.)
5)Work in process
6)Allocation of cost to work in process
7)Budgeting, hmm... something I might just try.
8) How I am never going to invest in stocks and bonds.
9)That if you don't get enough sleep, by 7:00 pm all voices sound like little bee's.

1. The jokes on the PowerPoint.
2. The answer to an unknown question is depends and justify the answer.
3. Project – learned much; enabled me to have interesting conversation with my co-workers about our competitors.
4. Budget – need to create one.
5. Debit/credit – always got the two backward but I finally straighten out my thought process.
6. Good class and low stress.
7. Test review – Without it, this would be a very tough class; information overload.
8. Good starting point to learn how the companies operate.
9. Canada sound like good place to live and now I wonder why I passed up the opportunity to work and live in Calgary, Canada.
10. Teacher making faces to see if we pay attention.

#1 - Every correct answer when it comes to accounting is "depends"

#2 - Our teacher is a tylonol smuggler and doesn't even know it.

#3 - If accounting is only as hard as we make it ourselves, then I am into self punishment.

#4 - Flexible budgets are more helpful than static budgets, then again I guess that depends too.

#5 - When buying memorabilia, the story behind it is always more valuable than the item.

#6 - Night classes have a much smarter, and laid back group of people to take class with.

#7 - extreem excuses for missing class WILL be publicized! (embarassing but very funny)

#8 - Always show your detailed work, or you will regret it BIG time!

#9 - Financial analysis can be kinda fun (please don't repeat this admission to anyone I know out of class)

#10 - Doug, your a great teacher, i'm inspired to learn more and keep accounting in my life no matter where my studies take me.

Well, this class was pretty brutal. Waking up at 6:30pm only to go to school and get my mind ravaged wasn't exactly my idea of fun. But overall it was a good class.
1.I remember that most problems in accounting can be solved by guessing.
2.Points can be earned by just spelling my name close to correctly.
3.Canadians can tell some good stories.
4.I can still do accounting even though I'm a little dense sometimes.
5.The comics on the slides at least made it look like I was paying attention.
6.Saying that an answer depends can work for almost any accounting problem too.
7.The project was memorable.
8.I laugh at nerdie accounting jokes... me, an accountant though??? That's the real joke LOL!!!
9.The homework is better when it's done outside of class cuz you actually learn it.
10.I learned that with the right teacher, and the right classmates, even I can grow to like and understand accounting.
Thanks Doug!!!

Lets see.....10 things I remember from accounting 202.

1. Canadians are WAY funnier than I originally thought. I figured the extreme cold would freeze their sense of humor.

2. If you don't do your homework, make sure you pay attention and take part in class discussions.

3. I like compound entries better than all individual ones. I am a busy man, I don't have time for a few extra lines.

4. When assigned a project, make sure to get started on it in plenty of time and stick to it.

5. The tests actually do get easier! The final was the easiest yet...or I made the worlds greatest cheat sheet, you tell me.

6. Even if you take 10 years off between accounting classes, with the right teacher anything is possible!!

7. I learned a lot more about stocks and bonds than I thought I knew.

8. I REALLY like you going over the test with us the class before. It makes things so much easier knowing what exactly you need to study rather than, here is the test on 3 chapters, good luck.

9. I now know that "depends" is an acceptable answer. My whole life I was brought up thinking that was not the case, now I have a whole new way of thinking.....

10. And last but certainly not least...drugs are cheaper in Canada, and be careful to know your limit on how many you can buy, cause you do NOT want those mounties to stop you in line and strip search you.
